In the movie, Fievel Mousekewitz (the young mouse protagonist of the first film) is excited to move with his family out west to Green River, where he believes there are no cats. However, upon arrival, the Mousekewitz's quickly realize that there are still cats around - this time in the form of Cat R. Waul and his gang of outlaws.

Cat R. Waul (voiced by John Cleese) is a smooth-talking cat who convinces the mice of Green River that he wants to live in harmony with them. He even invites the townsfolk to a "junkyard" party, where they can all feast on piles of food - unbeknownst to the mice, this is just a ploy to lure them into a trap.

Meanwhile, Fievel (voiced by Phillip Glasser) befriends a spirited female mouse named Tanya (voiced by Cathy Cavadini) and a tough Sheriff dog named Wylie Burp (voiced by James Stewart). Together, they must find a way to stop Cat R. Waul's evil plan and save the mice of Green River.

An American Tail: Fievel Goes West was produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblimation studio and was released in 1991. It features music by James Horner, including the beloved song "Dreams to Dream" performed by Linda Ronstadt. The film was a box office success and has since become a beloved classic for many animated movie fans.
