An American Pickle stars Seth Rogen as Herschel Greenbaum, a Jewish immigrant who arrives in New York City in the early 20th century and begins working at a pickle factory. After falling into a vat of brine, Herschel is perfectly preserved for 100 years before being discovered and thawed out in modern-day Brooklyn.

When Herschel wakes up, he discovers that he has no surviving family or friends from his time period, and that the world has changed dramatically. He's taken in by his only surviving relative, his great-grandson Ben, who is a computer coder struggling to make ends meet.

Herschel struggles to assimilate to modern-day society, and his old-fashioned views clash with those of his well-meaning but out-of-touch great-grandson. The two men struggle to connect, but eventually bond over their shared desire to honor Herschel's legacy and create a better future for themselves and their family.

The film, which is based on a short story by Simon Rich, explores themes of family, identity, and the immigrant experience. It also includes plenty of humor and heart, making it a must-see for fans of Seth Rogen's brand of comedy.
