An Actor Prepares is a comedy-drama film directed by Steve Clark and starring Jeremy Irons and Jack Huston. The movie follows Atticus Smith (Jeremy Irons), a famous and grizzly actor who has lived his life on the edge, indulging in booze and women. However, after a heart attack, he is advised by his doctor to avoid stressful situations and reluctantly agrees to travel across the country with his estranged son, Adam (Jack Huston).
Adam, now an acting teacher in New York, has never forgiven his father for choosing his career over his family. But now, with his own relationship on the rocks, he sees this road trip as an opportunity to salvage some kind of family connection. However, the trip quickly turns into a rollercoaster ride as Atticus' wild and unpredictable behavior clashes with Adam's control-freak tendencies.
As father and son travel through small towns and encounter eccentric characters on their journey to Atticus' next film set, they begin to bond over their shared love of acting. But when Atticus' past mistakes come back to haunt him, he must make peace with his past, repair his relationship with his son and find a way to stay true to himself.
