TV Movie,Horror  United States of America

Amityville: The Evil Escapes is a horror movie released in 1989, directed by Sandor Stern and based on the book of the same title by John G. Jones. The film is the fourth installment in the Amityville franchise and the first one not to be set in the infamous haunted house on Long Island.

The movie begins with a dramatic opening sequence, showing the evil spirit from Amityville escaping a priest's body and making its way to a lamp that is going to be sold at an auction. The lamp ends up in the possession of a single mother named Nancy Evans (Patty Duke), who lives in a large house in California with her three daughters: teenage Jessica (Jane Wyatt), pre-teen Lori (Brandy Gold), and younger Kisha (Zoe Trilling). The family is struggling to make ends meet, and Nancy hopes to sell the antique lamp to make some money.

However, as soon as the lamp is brought into the house, strange things begin to happen. The demon slowly starts to manifest itself, manipulating Kisha into believing that her dead father is communicating with her from beyond the grave. The beast also terrorizes Lori, making her see disturbing visions of a hanging woman and a decapitated horse. Jessica, the oldest daughter, is skeptical at first, but she eventually realizes that something evil is happening in the house.

Meanwhile, Nancy's ex-husband (Robert Alan Browne) shows up, hoping to reconcile with her and take the family back to New York. However, he soon becomes a pawn in the demon's game, as it uses him to get closer to the vulnerable Kisha. As the possession becomes more intense, Nancy seeks the help of a young priest, Father Kibbler (Fredric Lehne), who has experience dealing with demonic entities. Together, they try to exorcise the demon and save Kisha's soul.

The climax of the movie takes place in a dramatic showdown, as Father Kibbler battles the demon in an epic fight of good vs. evil. With the help of Nancy and her daughters, he is able to banish the entity back to Amityville, where it belongs. However, the final scene suggests that the family is still haunted by the traumatic events and that the demon might never truly leave them alone.

Overall, Amityville: The Evil Escapes is a solid entry in the Amityville franchise, with good performances, creepy atmosphere, and some effective scares. While it departs from the familiar setting of the haunted house, it manages to deliver a compelling and suspenseful story of a family under siege by supernatural forces.
