As Corrine struggles to come to terms with her parents' divorce, she watches helplessly as her mother starts dating a new man and her father becomes more distant. To make matters worse, her exuberant little brother takes to their new blended family with ease, leaving Corrine feeling more alone than ever.
In an effort to find some sense of purpose and take control of her life, Corrine decides to take on the challenge of training a rambunctious puppy named Buddy. But Buddy proves to be more of a handful than she expected, and Corrine quickly finds herself in over her head.
With the help of her grandmother and some newfound friends, Corrine begins to gain confidence in herself and her ability to handle the challenges in her life. As her bond with Buddy grows stronger, Corrine comes to realize that her new purpose may be bigger than just training a puppy - it may be about finding her place in her new, blended family and learning to love and trust again.
