Dr. Marcus Sommers, a successful physician, becomes concerned about his health after realizing that his father and grandfather both died from a rare brain disease called cerebral amyloid angiopathy. He contacts his estranged brother, David, a former professional cyclist who has been struggling with drug addiction, in an attempt to reconcile and make peace with their troubled past.
The two brothers, with Marcus's girlfriend Sarah, travel to Colorado to participate in the Coors Classic, a grueling 2,905-mile bike race through the Rocky Mountains. As they train, they begin to rebuild their relationship and rediscover their shared passion for cycling. Along the way, they encounter a colorful cast of characters, including a fellow cyclist, Becky, who becomes romantically involved with David.
As the race begins, Marcus's health rapidly deteriorates, and he withdraws from the competition. David continues on, determined to finish the race and honor his brother. However, he faces several challenges, including a hostile competitor and the harsh terrain of the Rockies.
