Documentary  N/A

American Boy: A Profile of Steven Prince is a 1978 documentary film directed by Martin Scorsese. The film is a series of conversations that Martin Scorsese has with Steven Prince, a former drug addict and road manager for Neil Diamond. Over the course of the evening, Prince recounts stories from his life, including his drug addiction, experiences on the road with Neil Diamond, and his eventual sobriety.

Prince also talks about his brief acting career, including his memorable role as Easy Andy, the gun salesman in Scorsese's classic film Taxi Driver. One of Prince's stories, in which he describes rescuing a friend from heroin overdose by plunging a needle into his heart, later inspired a key scene in Quentin Tarantino's film Pulp Fiction.

Much of the film consists of close-ups of Prince as he tells his stories, with occasional cutaways to footage of New York City and other relevant images. The film also features some reenactments of Prince's stories, with Prince himself playing some of the characters. Overall, American Boy is a fascinating document of a charismatic and larger-than-life character, as well as a snapshot of a specific time and place in American culture.
