In the movie, Alvin, Simon, Theodore, Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor embark on a luxury cruise ship for a much-needed vacation. However, their mischievous behavior causes chaos on the ship, and their caretaker, Dave, becomes frustrated with their antics.
During a game of hide and seek, the Chipmunks and Chipettes accidentally end up in a basket that gets thrown overboard. They quickly discover that they are on a deserted island and must figure out how to survive until they can be rescued.
As they explore the island, they come across a castaway named Zoe (voiced by Jenny Slate), who has been living there for years. Zoe initially seems friendly, but the Chipmunks soon realize that she is not what she seems and has a hidden agenda.
Meanwhile, Dave and the rest of the cruise ship passengers are frantically searching for the missing Chipmunks and Chipettes. Dave enlists the help of a zany cruise director named Ian (David Cross), who has a history of causing trouble for the Chipmunks.
