In Altered Perception, the drug being tested is called "refractor" and it is designed to alter one's perception of reality. The four couples chosen to test the drug are all connected to the company behind the drug in some way. One couple is the founder's son and his girlfriend, another is a married couple consisting of a doctor who works for the company and her husband, a soldier suffering from severe PTSD. The third couple is made up of two scientists who have been working on the drug, and the fourth couple is a shady pair of employees who deal in the black market.
As they go through the various stages of testing, the couples begin to experience strange and terrifying hallucinations, causing them to question the morality of the drug and the motives behind its creation. As their sanity is put to the test, they must fight to get out of the experiment alive and uncover the truth behind the drug.
The film is a psychological thriller and explores themes such as the dangers of playing with memory and perception, the ethical issues surrounding scientific experimentation, and the balance between personal gain and the greater good. It stars Jon Huertas, Jade Tailor, Jennifer Blanc, and Michael Paré.
