All Is Bright is a 2013 American-Canadian comedy-drama film directed by Phil Morrison. The movie tells the story of two French Canadian ex-convicts, Dennis and Rene, who travel to New York City with a scheme to get rich quick by selling Christmas trees.
Dennis, played by Paul Giamatti, is a depressed and emotionally detached man who has just been released from prison after serving time for a burglary. Rene, played by Paul Rudd, is his carefree friend who is always looking for new schemes to make money.
The two men arrive in New York City just before Christmas and start selling Christmas trees on the streets of Brooklyn. They quickly realize that the competition is fierce, and it is not as easy to make money as they thought. However, things start to get better when Dennis meets an attractive, recently divorced woman, played by Sally Hawkins, who offers him a job as a handyman in her apartment building.
As the holiday season approaches, Dennis and Rene's Christmas tree business starts to take off, and they begin to see some success. However, their criminal past catches up with them, and they are forced to make a difficult decision about their future.
All Is Bright is a heartwarming and funny movie about two unlikely friends who try to turn their lives around and find redemption during the holiday season.
