Alice Sweet Alice is a psychological horror film directed by Alfred Sole and released in 1976. The movie is set in Paterson, New Jersey, during the early 1960s. The story revolves around Alice Spages, a quiet and withdrawn twelve-year-old girl who lives with her mother, Catherine, and younger sister, Karen.
Alice is frequently bullied at school and overlooked by her mother, who favors Karen, and their Catholic priest, Father Tom, who gives Karen special attention because she is preparing to receive her first communion.
Karen is murdered during her first communion ceremony at a nearby church while wearing a yellow raincoat and a mask that looks like Alice's, leading the police and the community to suspect Alice of the crime. Soon after Karen's death, Alice also becomes a target of the killer, who wears a yellow raincoat and a creepy translucent mask.
As the investigation unfolds, more dark secrets about the family and their acquaintances come to light, including Catherine's past psychiatric history and a series of strange men in Karen's life. The police and Alice's family are shocked to discover that the killer is actually a twisted family member with an unhealthy obsession with Karen.
