Airport is a 1970s melodrama film that tells the story of a bomber on board a flight bound for Rome from Chicago. The film stars Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, Jean Seberg, Jacqueline Bisset, George Kennedy, Helen Hayes, and Maureen Stapleton.

The movie follows Mel Bakersfeld (Burt Lancaster), the general manager of a major airport in Chicago, as he deals with personal problems, including a failing marriage and financial difficulties. Meanwhile, an airport employee named Joe Patroni (George Kennedy) struggles to keep the runways clear during a blizzard, which threatens to close the airport just as the desperate passengers on the doomed flight need to make an emergency landing.

As the plane approaches Chicago with a bomb on board, tensions rise both on the ground and in the air. Captain Vernon Demerest (Dean Martin) and stewardess Gwen Meighen (Jacqueline Bisset) must deal with the potential danger while trying to keep the passengers calm.

When the plane lands, the bomber is revealed to be Gwen's deranged ex-boyfriend, D.O. Guerrero (Van Heflin). Mel and Vern attempt to disarm the bomb while Joe struggles to clear the runway of snow in order to allow the plane to take off again.

The film ends with the successful removal of the bomb and the plane taking off safely into the snowstorm. Mel makes a decision to reconcile with his wife, while Vern and Gwen share a tense goodbye.

Overall, Airport is a thrilling and emotional melodrama that combines personal struggles with high stakes action. The film was a critical and commercial success, spawning three sequels and setting the standard for the disaster movie genre.
