Airplane II: The Sequel is a 1982 comedy film directed by Ken Finkleman and the sequel to the 1980 film Airplane!. The story picks up where the original film left off, with Ted Striker (played by Robert Hays) and Elaine Dickinson (played by Julie Hagerty) now married and taking a commercial space shuttle to the moon.
However, a series of technical glitches results in the ship's computer malfunctioning, causing the shuttle to veer off course and head straight for the sun. Ted Striker, a former pilot with a traumatic past, is the only one who can save the day. With the help of the flight crew and a young boy genius, they must find a way to fix the computer and steer the shuttle back on track.
Along the way, they encounter various comedic obstacles, including a group of singing nuns and a overweight passenger who accidentally gets stuck in a wall. Meanwhile, Ted Striker struggles to reconcile with his wife Elaine, who is unhappy with their marriage. In the end, Ted successfully saves the shuttle and rekindles his relationship with Elaine.
Airplane II: The Sequel features many of the same cast members as the original film, including Leslie Nielsen, Lloyd Bridges, and Robert Stack, as well as new additions such as William Shatner and Sonny Bono. The film received mixed reviews upon release, but has since become a cult classic.
