Airplane! is a classic comedy movie released in 1980. The film is a parody of disaster films, particularly the Airport franchise, and features absurdist humor throughout. The plot follows Ted Striker, a veteran pilot who is traumatized by his war experiences and suffers from a fear of flying.
When his ex-girlfriend, stewardess Elaine, boards a plane, Striker decides to try to win her back by booking a ticket on the same flight. Unfortunately, bizarre events soon unfold, and most of the passengers and crew suffer from food poisoning, leaving the plane without a functioning flight crew.
With no other options, Striker is forced to take control of the plane, relying on the guidance of a glue-sniffing air traffic controller and the help of his former Air Force captain, who has a grudge against him. The trio must work together to land the plane safely despite a range of absurd challenges and obstacles.
Throughout the film, the comedy is driven by slapstick humor, visual gags, and wordplay. Airplane! is regarded as a comedy classic and is often cited as one of the funniest movies ever made.
