After the Thin Man is a 1936 detective comedy film directed by W.S. Van Dyke and starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as husband and wife sleuths Nick and Nora Charles. This movie is a sequel to the 1934 film The Thin Man, which was based on Dashiell Hammett's novel of the same name.
In this movie, Nick and Nora return to San Francisco after their vacation. They are greeted by Nora's cousin, Selma, who is worried about her missing husband, Robert. Selma fears that Robert might have something to do with a recent murder in town.
Nick and Nora, along with Selma's friend David Graham, begin investigating Robert's disappearance. They soon discover that Robert was living a double life and had a lot of enemies. As they dig deeper, they find that Robert had connections with the murder and that the two cases are linked.
With Nick's wit and intuition, and Nora's charm and social connections, the trio set out to solve the case and bring the criminal to justice. Along the way, there are plenty of laughs, witty banter, and unexpected twists that keep the audience entertained.
