African Cats is a nature documentary film produced by Disney Nature and directed by Keith Scholey and Alastair Fothergill. It was released on April 22, 2011, to coincide with Earth Day celebrations. The film is set in the Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya, East Africa, and focuses on two feline families: a pride of lions and a family of cheetahs.

The story begins with Mara, a playful lion cub who lives with her mother, Layla, and her two younger siblings. As she grows older, Mara begins to learn the skills she needs to become a successful hunter and defender of her pride. Meanwhile, Sita, a solitary cheetah, gives birth to five cubs and must teach them how to survive in the harsh African savannah. Sita must also protect her cubs from predators like lions and hyenas.

As the film progresses, the two families face a common threat: Kali, a rogue male lion who has been banished from his own pride. Kali is looking for a new pride to join, and he sets his sights on Fang's family. Fang, the leader of the pride, must fight to protect his family and keep them safe from Kali's aggression.

The film provides a heartwarming and educational look at the everyday lives of these African cats, showing their social interactions, hunting techniques, and family dynamics. African Cats also highlights the importance of preserving the natural habitats of these majestic animals and the efforts being made to protect them from extinction.
