Charlies Wright is played by Aidan Quinn and he is a billionaire financial wizard, who is hailed as a financial genius and a philanthropist. However, his perfect life starts to crumble when it is revealed that he has been running a Ponzi scheme, which has resulted in him losing all his wealth and his reputation being tarnished. In order to avoid arrest, Charlie goes into self-imposed exile in Tijuana, Mexico.
While in Tijuana, Charlie starts to search for the woman he deserted 25 years ago, which leads him down a dangerous path. He is pursued by a Mexican gangster, played by Andy Garcia, who wants to capture him for his own purposes. At the same time, a federal agent played by Mario Van Peebles is also on his trail, hoping to bring him to justice.
Things only get worse when thugs hired by a former client show up, looking to retrieve their money from Charlie. With danger lurking around every corner, Charlie must use his wits to stay alive and uncover the truth about what has happened to him.
