Aces Go Places is a 1982 Hong Kong action-comedy film directed by Eric Tsang and starring Sam Hui, Karl Maka, and Sylvia Chang. The film was a huge commercial success and spawned multiple sequels.
The film follows the unlikely duo of Albert Au, a bald detective who has been chasing after the elusive thief King Kong for years, and Superintendent Ho, a hot-headed female police officer who is determined to bring King Kong to justice. When King Kong steals a valuable cache of diamonds from a gang of ruthless criminals, he decides to frame another thief named White Glove for the crime.
As Albert and Ho close in on their target, King Kong decides to team up with them in order to take down White Glove and another villain known as Mad Max, who is also after the stolen diamonds. Along the way, the three partners engage in a series of thrilling and hilarious misadventures, including car chases, fist fights, and stealthy break-ins.
In the end, King Kong reveals the location of the diamonds, which were hidden away by his deceased accomplice, and the trio manages to recover them and apprehend the bad guys. The film ends with Albert, Ho, and King Kong parting ways as friends, while King Kong promises to turn over a new leaf and lead an honest life.
