Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a 1994 comedy film directed by Tom Shadyac and stars Jim Carrey as the titular character, a quirky and unconventional private investigator specializing in pet-related cases. When the Miami Dolphins' mascot is kidnapped, Ace is hired by the team's manager, Melissa Robinson (Courteney Cox), to help find him before the Super Bowl.
Ace is not one to follow the rules and often takes a highly unorthodox approach to his investigations. His antics lead him to explore every corner of Miami, from the seedy underworld of illegal exotic pet trading to the luxurious mansions of the city's elite. Along the way, he encounters a colorful cast of characters, including a vengeful ex-football player and a mysterious feline lover with a grudge against the Dolphins.
Through it all, Ace's unwavering determination and offbeat humor carry him through the twists and turns of the case. He uses his physical prowess, keen observation skills, and wacky disguises to solve the mystery and save both the mascot and the team's star quarterback, Dan Marino, from harm.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was a box office success and earned Carrey critical acclaim for his outrageous performance. It spawned a sequel, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, and helped establish Carrey as one of the biggest comedians of the 1990s.
