The shy lonely genealogist, named Emily, has always been fascinated with family history and spends her days researching and documenting her own family tree. One day, while attending a family reunion for a distant relative, she meets the perfect family - the Hendersons. They are warm, welcoming, and instantly make her feel like she belongs.
As she gets to know the Hendersons better, Emily becomes close with their eldest son, Michael. He is engaged to a woman named Jessica, who is beautiful but seems more interested in his family's wealth than in him. Emily can see through Jessica's facade and knows she is not right for Michael.
As Emily and Michael spend more time together, their feelings for each other begin to grow. However, Emily is torn between her desire to be honest with Michael about her true identity and her fear of losing the only family she's ever known.
