Absolute Power is a 1997 thriller directed by Clint Eastwood and starring himself, along with Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, and Laura Linney. The film is based on the novel of the same name by David Baldacci.

The movie follows Luther Whitney (Eastwood), a veteran thief who decides to rob the lavish mansion of Walter Sullivan (Hackman), a wealthy businessman with political influence. However, Whitney finds himself hiding in a secret room during the heist, witnessing the murder of a woman by Sullivan and members of the Secret Service. The woman turns out to be the wife of the President of the United States (played by Scott Glenn).

As Whitney tries to leave the mansion unnoticed, he accidentally drops a keychain and Sullivan discovers him. Whitney manages to escape, but he takes with him evidence of the murder, including pictures of Sullivan with the victim and a recording of their conversation.

The Secret Service, led by Agent Seth Frank (Harris), immediately begins investigating the murder and puts Whitney at the top of their list of suspects. Meanwhile, Sullivan, fearing his involvement in the crime may be exposed, starts using his power and resources to cover up the murder and eliminate anyone who might know the truth, including Whitney.

Whitney, now a hunted man, is forced to use his wit and experience as a thief to evade the Secret Service and clear his name. However, he soon realizes that he holds evidence that could bring down the President, leading Sullivan to put a price on his head and forcing Whitney to fight for his life and defend the truth.

With intense action sequences, unexpected plot twists, and a stellar cast, Absolute Power is a gripping thriller that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats until the very end.
