A Writer's Odyssey is a Chinese-language film directed by Lu Yang and released in 2021. The movie follows a father named Guan Ning, who is searching for his missing daughter with the help of a group of online gamers. The gamers introduce him to a novel series called The Godslayer Chronicles, written by Kongwen Lu, which was being adapted into a blockbuster movie.
Guan Ning becomes obsessed with the novel series and is convinced that Kongwen Lu's books hold the key to finding his missing daughter. However, as he delves deeper into the series, he realizes that the story and characters are more real than he ever imagined.
Kongwen Lu, who is played by Dong Zijian, is a young writer who is deeply immersed in his fantasy world and is struggling to complete the final book in his planned trilogy. As he works on his novel, he begins to experience strange and terrifying visions of a man in black armor who is searching for him.
Meanwhile, in the real world, a powerful tycoon named Tu Ling is funding the production of the Godslayer Chronicles movie, which he sees as a way to control public opinion and further his own political ambitions. When Kongwen Lu's writing begins to disrupt Tu Ling's plans, he hires Guan Ning to track down and kill the author.
As Guan Ning enters the world of The Godslayer Chronicles, he becomes caught up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse that blurs the line between reality and fiction. The movie combines elements of science fiction, fantasy, and thriller genres, and features stunning special effects and action sequences.
