A Wrinkle in Time is a 2018 American science fantasy adventure film that is directed by Ava DuVernay and is based on the novel of the same name by Madeleine L'Engle. The movie follows the story of a young girl named Meg Murry (played by Storm Reid) who, along with her younger brother Charles Wallace (played by Deric McCabe) and friend Calvin O'Keefe (played by Levi Miller), embarks on a journey through space and time in order to rescue her scientist father, Dr. Alexander Murry (played by Chris Pine).
The trio is aided in their quest by three mysterious celestial beings known as Mrs. Whatsit (played by Reese Witherspoon), Mrs. Who (played by Mindy Kaling), and Mrs. Which (played by Oprah Winfrey). These beings are capable of traveling across time and space, and they help Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin to "tesser" or fold space and time in order to reach Dr. Murry's location.
As the group explores the strange and wondrous worlds they encounter on their journey, they must also confront a dark and evil force known as the "IT." This malevolent entity seeks to destroy their minds and keep them from completing their mission. Along the way, Meg learns to embrace her own unique strengths and discover the power of her love for her family.
