In A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, Harold has settled down with his wife Maria and become a successful Wall Street executive. On the other hand, Kumar has dropped out of medical school and become a stoner who lives alone in his apartment.
Kumar shows up on Harold's doorstep with a mysterious package addressed to "Wafflebot," a robot the duo encountered in their earlier adventures. They accidentally set fire to Harold's father-in-law's Christmas tree while trying to smoke a joint, and the two set out to find a replacement tree.
Their journey takes them through the streets of New York City and into a series of increasingly bizarre and dangerous situations. They encounter Russian gangsters, a runaway reindeer, a baby with a cocaine habit, and Neil Patrick Harris playing a fictionalized version of himself.
As they search for the perfect tree, Harold and Kumar also confront the issues that drove them apart in the six years since Guantanamo Bay. They reflect on their friendship and on the changes they have undergone as they navigate their way through the chaos of the holiday season.
A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas was directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and released in 2011. The film was praised for its over-the-top humor and its satirical approach to the holiday season.
