A Time for Dying is a Western film released in 1969, directed by Budd Boetticher and written by Burt Kennedy. The film stars Audie Murphy as Cass Bunning and Anne Randall as Nellie.

The film is about Cass Bunning, a young farm boy who has a talent for shooting, who arrives in the small town of Crosspatch in the Wild West. While wandering around the town, he meets Nellie, a naive woman from the East who has been lured to the West by the promise of a waitressing job.

Unbeknownst to Nellie, the job is in a brothel run by a corrupt man named Jason Carberry (played by Victor Jory). When Nellie realizes the truth, Cass offers to help her escape and they flee into the desert together, with Carberry and his men in pursuit.

Along the way, Cass teaches Nellie how to shoot and survive in the wilderness, as they face various obstacles including hostile Native Americans and treacherous terrain. As they navigate their way through the desert, their relationship deepens, and they come to rely on each other for survival.

Ultimately, they reach a cliff where they are trapped by Carberry and his men. In a final showdown, Cass and Nellie fight for their lives against the ruthless gang, with Cass using his shooting skills to defeat them.

The film was notable for being the last film role of Audie Murphy, a highly decorated World War II veteran and Western actor who died in a plane crash shortly after the film's completion. It was also Budd Boetticher's final film as a director.
