A Sunburnt Christmas is a comedy movie directed by Christiaan Van Vuuren and released in 2020. The story follows the struggles of a single mother named Daryl (played by actor and comedian, Claudia Karvan) who, after the sudden death of her husband, is left to raise her two children - 10-year-old daughter Hazel (Lena Nankivell) and 7-year-old son, Tom (Eamon Farren) alone on their outback farm.
Facing financial difficulties and mounting debts, the family is struggling to make ends meet, until a runaway criminal dressed as Santa Claus (Daniel Henshall) crashes into their property and turns their lives upside down.
The criminal, who poses as a Santa Claus named Mal, convinces the kids to help him search for a bag full of stolen money he had hidden on their farm. In exchange, he promises to give them a share of the loot and provide them with a Christmas they'll never forget.
As Daryl tries to keep a lid on the chaos and get her life back in order, the family begins to bond with the criminal - who inadvertently ends up helping them more than they could have ever imagined.
The film is filled with laughs, heartwarming moments and a touch of adventure as the unlikely group must navigate their way through challenges, confrontations and unexpected turns to find what they each really want this Christmas season.
