A Shot Through the Wall follows the story of a rookie cop named Jimmy Woo, who is excited to start serving his community. He gets assigned to patrol a predominantly African-American neighborhood in Brooklyn, which has a history of tension with the police force.
One night, while on duty, Jimmy hears gunshots and sees a suspicious figure running away. Without proper backup or assessment of the situation, he chases the suspect into a building. The victim is an aspiring musician named Tyrone, who had been practicing with his band in a nearby studio. The bullet pierces his chest, and he dies shortly after. The event sends shockwaves through the community, with protests and demands for justice erupting.
As investigations begin, Jimmy is suspended from duty, and his life starts unraveling. He is torn by guilt and haunted by visions of Tyrone. He is also ostracized by both his colleagues and the community, causing him to question his identity and loyalties.
