A Ring of Endless Light is a Disney Channel Original Movie released in 2002. It is based on the book of the same name by Madeleine L'Engle. The movie follows 15-year-old Vicky Austin as she spends a summer on Seven Bay Island with her family and friends.
Vicky's grandfather, who is a retired Reverend, is suffering from an unknown illness and refuses to seek medical attention. Vicky tries to convince him to go to a doctor, but he insists on keeping his condition hidden from the family. Meanwhile, Vicky reconnects with Zachary Gray, a wealthy but troubled boy she met the previous summer. They bond over their shared love for poetry and literature.
Vicky also meets Adam Eddington, a 17-year-old who is studying dolphins on the island. Adam enlists Vicky's help in communicating with Basil, a dolphin that is part of his research project. Vicky discovers that she has a unique ability to communicate telepathically with Basil and his mate.
As the summer progresses, Vicky must navigate her complicated relationships with Zachary and Adam while also dealing with her grandfather's declining health. She also grapples with the reality of death and learns to come to terms with loss.
