The protagonist of the film is 16-year-old Marguerite (played by Sondra Locke), who lives with her mother (Mary Ure) and grandmother (Vivian Merchant) in a remote mansion. Marguerite's father (Robert Shaw) abandoned the family years ago and now suddenly reappears with his new fiancée, Leonora (Sally Kellerman).
As Marguerite becomes closer to Leonora, she begins to uncover dark secrets about her family's past and present. Suspicious deaths start occurring around her, making her wonder if her father is involved. Marguerite finds herself trapped in a dangerous web of deception and begins to fear for her own life.
Throughout the film, the audience is left wondering whether Marguerite's father is truly connected to the killings, or if it's all in Marguerite's head due to her unstable mental state. The atmosphere of the movie is eerie and unsettling, with a focus on psychological suspense rather than graphic violence.
A Reflection of Fear was released in 1972 and directed by William A. Fraker. It received mixed reviews at the time but has since gained a cult following for its eerie atmosphere and unconventional plot twists.
