A Minute to Pray, a Second to Die is a 1968 Spaghetti Western film directed by Franco Giraldi and starring Alex Cord, Arthur Kennedy, Robert Ryan, and Nicoletta Machiavelli. The film follows Clay McCord (Alex Cord), a notorious gunslinger who decides to turn himself in to the authorities when a new governor grants amnesty to criminals in the New Mexico Territory.
Despite his intentions to start over, McCord finds himself at odds with the corrupt and vengeful Sheriff Roy Colby (Arthur Kennedy), who sees the gunslinger as a threat to his power and sets out to stop him from reaching the territory alive. McCord also finds himself facing obstacles in the form of rival gangs, hostile Native Americans, and his own past crimes catching up with him.
As he navigates these challenges, McCord begins to form a bond with the governor's daughter, Laurinda (Nicoletta Machiavelli), who has her own reasons for wanting to help him. In the end, McCord must use all of his skills and cunning to outwit the sheriff and his men and make it to the New Mexico Territory alive.
A Minute to Pray, a Second to Die features stunning cinematography and intense action sequences, as well as a compelling story of redemption, courage, and justice. It is considered a classic of the Spaghetti Western genre and has influenced many other films in the genre that followed.
