A Little Romance is a 1979 romantic comedy-drama film directed by George Roy Hill and adapted from the novel E=mc² Mon Amour by Patrick Cauvin. The film stars Laurence Olivier, Diane Lane, and Thelonious Bernard.
The story revolves around a young American girl named Lauren King (Diane Lane) and a young French boy named Daniel Michon (Thelonious Bernard), who meet in Paris and quickly fall in love. They are both 13 years old and are searching for a little romance in their lives. They are helped along the way by an old man named Julius Santorin (Laurence Olivier), who tells them stories of his own romantic past.

Daniel is a self-proclaimed genius who idolizes Einstein, and he and Lauren share a special affinity for the concept of energy and mass being interchangeable. Daniel often quotes Einstein, and this gives the film its title. He also wears a bowler hat as a tribute to Chaplin, whom he idolizes.
In Venice, the young couple is finally able to kiss under the Bridge of Sighs as Santorin watches. As they walk away, he dies peacefully, having fulfilled his duty to show them the true meaning of love.
