A Haunted House is a horror comedy film that spoofs the popular "found-footage/documentary style" films that have been released in recent years, including the Paranormal Activity series and The Blair Witch Project. The film follows a young couple, Malcolm and Kisha, who move into their dream home, only to discover that it is haunted by supernatural forces.
As the couple tries to deal with the creepy occurrences in their house, they enlist the help of a team of paranormal investigators and set up cameras to document their experiences. However, as they review the footage, they discover that their haunted house is not what it seems, and they must find a way to get rid of the evil spirits before it's too late.
Along the way, the film parodies many of the tropes and clichés of found-footage movies, such as the shaky camera work, jump scares, and fake-outs. It also includes nods to classic horror films like The Exorcist and Poltergeist.
The film stars Marlon Wayans as Malcolm and Essence Atkins as Kisha, with additional performances by Cedric the Entertainer, David Koechner, and Nick Swardson. Directed by Michael Tiddes and produced by the Wayans brothers, A Haunted House was released in 2013 and received mixed reviews from critics. Despite this, it was a commercial success and spawned a sequel, A Haunted House 2.
