The film follows The Beatles as they travel by train from Liverpool to London for a television performance on a fictitious show called The Big Think. Along the way, they encounter a variety of colorful characters, including a pushy TV producer, an eccentric fashion designer, and a young woman named Susan who becomes infatuated with Paul.
Meanwhile, John, Paul, and George are constantly pursued by hordes of screaming fans, while Ringo is arrested for causing a disturbance at a casino. The rest of the group then must come up with a plan to free Ringo from jail and get him to the television studio on time.
Throughout the film, The Beatles showcase their musical talents with performances of several of their hit songs, including "A Hard Day's Night," "Can't Buy Me Love," and "All My Loving." The film was directed by Richard Lester and written by Alun Owen, and was praised for its innovative use of quick cuts and handheld camera work.
