The movie A Ghost Story for Christmas: The Mezzotint is based on a short story by M.R. James. Edward Williams, who works at an old English college, is given an engraving of a country house by his friend John Harrington. The picture depicts the house on a bright and sunny day, but as night falls in the engraving, a figure appears on the lawn, becoming increasingly more visible with each passing moment until it disappears into the house. Williams becomes fixated on the image and decides to investigate the house in person. As he travels to the house, he begins to experience strange and unsettling occurrences that he cannot explain. Upon arriving at the house, he discovers its dark history and finds himself fighting for his life against an unseen, supernatural force.
