A Field in England is a black and white film directed by Ben Wheatley and released in 2013. The film is set during the English Civil War and follows a small group of deserters who are captured by an alchemist named O'Neil. O'Neil believes that there is a treasure hidden somewhere in a nearby field and he forces the deserters to help him find it.
The film stars Michael Smiley as O'Neil, and the group of deserters is played by Reece Shearsmith, Julian Barratt, Peter Ferdinando, and Ryan Pope. As the group wanders through the field, they come across a circle of mushrooms and are forced to eat them to survive. Soon after, they begin to experience hallucinations and become increasingly paranoid.
As they continue their search for the treasure, tensions between the group rise, and they turn on each other. It is revealed that the treasure they are seeking may not be gold, but something much more sinister.
