A Fiance for Christmas is a romantic comedy movie that revolves around Sawyer, a woman who has been single all her life. One day, while wandering in a store feeling blue, Sawyer decides to make a fake wedding registry and do some "fantasy shopping" with a scanning gun. She shocks herself by enjoying the experience so much that she ends up scanning things she didn't intend to. She then hits "publish" accidentally and her registry goes viral.
When the whole town finds out, they throw her a surprise bridal shower, inviting all her friends and family. The entire town assumes that Sawyer is getting married and they start planning a wedding for her. Sawyer is embarrassed to tell the truth and decides to play along with the lie. Thus, she hires a fake fiancé named David, who plays the love of her life until Christmas.
As Christmas approaches, Sawyer and David spend more time together and start to develop feelings for each other. However, Sawyer is still unsure if what they have is real or if it's all just part of the charade. Sawyer's family also gets involved in the planning and starts to add their own complications.
As the wedding date approaches, Sawyer is forced to reveal the truth to her family and friends. Despite her fears, everyone is supportive and understanding. At the end of the movie, Sawyer and David decide to go on a real date, and the start of a true romance begins.
