In A Family Divided, Chad Billingsley is a talented swimmer and a member of a fraternity. After attending a party with his fraternity brothers, Chad wakes up to find that Rosalie Frank, a waitress who had also attended the party, is missing. Chad later admits to his father, Roger, that he had sex with Rosalie at the party, and that four other fraternity brothers had also had sex with her.
Roger, who is a successful attorney, quickly takes charge of the situation in an effort to protect his son from a potential statutory rape charge. He enlists the help of the other fathers of the fraternity brothers involved, and they work together to keep the incident quiet and avoid any legal consequences for their sons.
However, Roger's wife Karen, who works at a refuge house for women, finds out about the situation and is horrified by what she sees as the exploitation of Rosalie. She believes that the boys should be held accountable for their actions, and begins to harass them in an attempt to make them confess to what they have done.
As tensions rise between Karen and the fraternity brothers, tragedy strikes and the family is left deeply divided. The film explores themes of privilege, morality, and the importance of justice in the face of powerful forces seeking to protect their own interests.
