A Cowgirl's Song follows the story of sixteen-year-old Harper, who dreams of becoming a famous singer. After her father walks out on their family, Harper's mother can no longer afford to support her dream and sends her to live with her estranged grandmother in rural Tennessee.

Harper's grandmother, Joni, was a country music star in the 1970s but has since fallen on hard times, grieving the loss of her husband and struggling to make ends meet by running a failing local bar. Initially resistant to taking in her granddaughter, Joni eventually warms to Harper and sees her potential as a singer.

With Joni's guidance and encouragement, Harper begins to reach for her dreams again, performing at her grandmother's bar and other local venues. However, their newfound bond is tested when Harper's mother comes back into the picture, threatening to take her back home and derailing her music career.

As they navigate their personal struggles, Harper and Joni find solace in their shared love of music and ultimately come together to write a song that serves as a tribute to Joni's late husband and a testament to their newfound bond as grandmother and granddaughter.

Through the power of their undeniable talent and their unwavering love for each other, Harper and Joni find the courage to face their pasts and embrace a bright future filled with hope and promise.
