Sam is a struggling writer who feels like he has nothing to offer Birdie, a seemingly perfect barista who he can't stop thinking about. After several awkward attempts to get her to notice him, Sam decides to take a chance and create a fake online profile based on all the things he thinks Birdie would like in a guy.
As his alter ego, he starts chatting with Birdie online, using all the information he's gathered about her to keep the conversation going. She falls for his charming, adventurous persona and they start dating, but Sam quickly realizes he can't keep up the act forever.
Things get even more complicated when Birdie brings Sam to meet her eccentric family and he has to keep his true identity a secret. He starts to feel guilty about lying to her and wonders if she would still like him if she knew the real him.
In the end, Sam has to come clean and risk losing Birdie, but he discovers that she loves him for who he really is, flaws and all. A Case of You is a charming romantic comedy about the ups and downs of dating in the digital age and learning to be honest with yourself and the people you care about.
