A Bullet for the General is a 1966 Italian Spaghetti Western film directed by Damiano Damiani and starring Gian Maria Volontè, Klaus Kinski, and Martine Beswick. The film is set during the Mexican Revolution in the early 1900s.

The film follows El Chuncho (Volontè), the leader of a gang of bandits who rob a train in order to obtain a shipment of weapons to sell to revolutionaries fighting against the government. Bill Tate (Lou Castel) is a passenger on the train who is taken prisoner by El Chuncho's gang, but he soon convinces them that he is a revolutionary sympathizer and is allowed to join their group.

As El Chuncho and his gang make their way through the countryside, they encounter various obstacles and opponents, including a rival gang and a group of soldiers sent to track them down. Along the way, Bill begins to form a bond with El Chuncho, but he is also secretly working for the Mexican government, tasked with assassinating El Chuncho and recovering the stolen weapons.

As the tension between the revolutionaries and the government comes to a head, Bill is forced to choose which side he is truly on and to confront the consequences of his actions. A Bullet for the General is known for its political themes and its exploration of the morality of violent revolution and political violence.
