The former boxer's name is Ernie Driscoll, and he is struggling to make ends meet as a taxi driver and dreams of opening his own gym. His wife, Pauline, is having an affair with a former friend and fellow boxer, who promises to help Ernie with his gym.
However, things take a dangerous turn when Ernie unknowingly picks up two jewel thieves in his cab, who are being pursued by the police. They escape and hide the stolen jewels in Ernie's cab, setting off a chain of events that not only lead Ernie on a thrilling chase through the city but also put his life and livelihood in danger.
To make matters worse, Ernie is soon framed for the murder of Pauline and becomes the prime suspect in her death. With the help of his friend Linda, a struggling actress, Ernie must clear his name and uncover the truth behind Pauline's death while also trying to recover the stolen jewels and stop the real killers before it's too late.
