In the film 88 Minutes, Dr. Jack Gramm (played by Al Pacino) is a forensic psychiatrist who has testified in court against many dangerous criminals. One day, he receives a phone call from someone who tells him he has only 88 minutes left to live. From that moment on, Dr. Gramm finds that he is being stalked by an unknown assailant who seems intent on killing him before time runs out.

As he tries to figure out who might be after him, Dr. Gramm discovers that the death threat may be related to a case he worked on years ago, in which a serial killer was sentenced to death. The killer's execution is scheduled for that same day, and it seems that someone is looking to take revenge on Dr. Gramm for his involvement in the case.

As the clock ticks down, Dr. Gramm must race against time to find his would-be killer and stop them before it's too late. He enlists the help of his assistant (played by Amy Brenneman) and a group of his students, who have their own secrets and motives for helping him.

The film is a tense and twisting thriller that keeps audiences guessing until the very end. It explores themes of revenge, betrayal, and redemption, as well as the psychological toll that a life in law enforcement can take on those who work in the field.
