The woman, named Katie, is played by Abbi Jacobson, while her brother, named Seth, is played by Dave Franco. Katie discovers that Seth has relapsed into heroin addiction and is desperately searching for a detox center to get him help. However, the only available spot is hours away and they must travel across LA to get there.
To complicate matters, Seth's young daughter is in the car with them. Throughout the night, Katie struggles to keep her wits about her as Seth's addiction throws up obstacle after obstacle. They navigate through the streets of LA, stopping at various locations in an attempt to find a detox center, but all the while, Seth is getting sicker and Katie is getting more desperate.
The movie is based on a true story, with the writer and director, Marja-Lewis Ryan, drawing on her own experiences with addiction. The film has received critical acclaim for its nuanced portrayal of addiction and the impact it has on families.
