In 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, four teenage girls – Mia, Sasha, Alexa, and Nicole – decide to explore an underwater ruin in Mexico while on a diving trip. They are accompanied by Mia's step-sister, Catherine, who reveals that their father is a marine archeologist who discovered the ruins but was unable to explore them due to health concerns.
The girls enter the ruins and discover a network of tunnels leading to an underground lake with a variety of exotic sea creatures. Excited by their discovery, they continue exploring but soon realize they are not alone. They encounter a group of Great White Sharks who have evolved in the darkness over generations and are now blind, but have heightened senses of hearing and smell.
As the sharks hunt the girls, the latter must find a way out of the ruins while battling their own fears and the dwindling supply of oxygen in their tanks. They must navigate the treacherous tunnels, avoid underwater booby-traps, and fight off the sharks as they try to make it to the surface alive.
