The film, directed by Allan A. Goldstein, also features Ophélie Winter as the beautiful but deadly Cmdr. Thompson, who is aiding the alien takeover, and Ezio Greggio as Dr. Griffin Pratt, a womanizing scientist who joins Dix on his mission.
As Dix navigates his way through the Vegan moon base, he encounters a number of absurd obstacles and bizarre characters, including a mad scientist who has been experimenting with body parts, a seductive alien who tries to sabotage Dix's mission, and a giant space chicken that threatens to destroy everything in its path.
Despite his incompetence, Dix manages to eventually uncover the truth behind the clone-president and the alien invasion plot. With the help of Pratt and Thompson, he sets out to put things right and save the world from destruction.
While not as well-received as the 'Naked Gun' series, 2001: A Space Travesty maintains a similar comedic style and features Nielsen in a role that is familiar to his fans.
