200 Cigarettes is a comedy-drama that takes place on New Year's Eve 1981 in New York City. The film follows multiple storylines that all intertwine throughout the course of the night.
The main character is Monica, a young woman who is throwing a party in downtown Manhattan. Throughout the film, she anxiously awaits the arrival of her crush, Eric. Eric is supposed to come to the party after he finishes his shift at the bar where he works.
Meanwhile, various groups of friends and acquaintances make their way to the party. Some of the characters include a nerdy guy named Dave who is desperately trying to lose his virginity, a couple who is trying to repair their failing relationship, and a neurotic woman who is afraid of being alone.
As the night progresses, all of the characters eventually make their way to Monica's apartment. Some find love, some find friendship, and some are left feeling just as lonely as when they arrived.
The film features an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, Christina Ricci, Gaby Hoffmann, Paul Rudd, and Kate Hudson. It was directed by Risa Bramon Garcia.
