2 States is an Indian romantic comedy-drama film released in 2014, based on the novel "2 States: The Story of My Marriage" by Chetan Bhagat. The film is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala.

The story follows Krish Malhotra, a Punjabi boy from Delhi, and Ananya Swaminathan, a Tamilian Brahmin girl from Chennai, who fall in love while pursuing their MBA at an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Ahmedabad. After finishing their studies, they want to get married, but their parents oppose their marriage due to their cultural differences.

Krish and Ananya decide to convince their parents and travel to their respective homes. Krish faces a tough time trying to impress Ananya's conservative father, while Ananya's mother is unhappy with her decision to marry outside their culture. Similarly, Krish's mother disapproves of his choice as Ananya's family is vegetarian, and Krish's family is fond of non-vegetarian food.

The couple tries to bridge the gap between their families, hoping to seek their approval for the marriage. While their parents eventually relent, their happiness is short-lived as they face new challenges and misunderstandings. How the couple ensures their relationship and cultural differences do not get in their way and eventually overcome various obstacles, forms the rest of the story.

The movie stars Arjun Kapoor as Krish and Alia Bhatt as Ananya. The supporting cast includes Amrita Singh, Revathi, Ronit Roy, and Shiv Kumar Subramaniam in pivotal roles. The film was a commercial success and received positive reviews, with praise for its performances, direction, and music.
