In the movie 18½, the White House transcriber named Rose Mary Woods (played by Kate Winslet) is tasked with transcribing President Nixon's secret recordings. One day while transcribing, she realizes that there is an 18½-minute gap in the tapes, which Nixon's staff claims is due to a technical glitch. However, Rose Mary becomes suspicious and starts investigating the gap herself, which leads her down a dangerous path of political intrigue and threats to her safety.
As she delves deeper into the mystery, Rose Mary uncovers evidence of Nixon's involvement in the Watergate scandal, as well as a larger conspiracy involving high-ranking government officials. But as she tries to expose the truth, she finds herself targeted by powerful forces who will do anything to keep their secrets hidden.
With the help of a young journalist (played by Finn Wittrock), Rose Mary races against time to piece together the puzzle of the 18½-minute gap and bring the truth to light. But as the stakes get higher and the danger intensifies, she realizes that the only way to survive is to take bold action and put everything on the line.
