The clickbait journalist, Jack, arrives in the small town where the Bigfoot Convention is being held and immediately begins his mission to gather enough click-worthy stories to boost his career. He dismisses the attendees and speakers as eccentric, but as he delves deeper, he discovers a complex community of believers, researchers, and skeptics.
One of the speakers, Dr. Rachel Kim, is a respected biologist who has been researching Bigfoot for years. Jack initially believes he can use her as fodder for his story, but he quickly realizes that she is far more knowledgeable and passionate about the subject than he ever imagined.
As Jack spends more time in the town, he starts to experience unusual encounters that shake his skepticism. He encounters eyewitnesses who swear they have seen Bigfoot and catches glimpses of looming shadows in the woods. The more he investigates, the more he realizes that there may be some truth to the legend.
The climax of the movie comes during the final night of the Bigfoot Convention, where Jack and Dr. Kim lead a group of attendees into the woods to search for any signs of Bigfoot. As they venture deeper into the forest, they encounter something that neither of them expected and have to use all of their wits and skills to get out alive.
While the movie certainly has some humorous moments, it ultimately ends up being a surprisingly heartfelt exploration of the human need for connection and understanding. Jack goes into the town thinking he's going to make fun of a bunch of kooks, but he leaves with a newfound respect for the people who have dedicated their lives to unraveling a mystery that so many others would dismiss as fantasy.
