The six ambitious forensic undergrads are from different backgrounds and have their own reasons for wanting to win the esteemed trainee position with the FBI. They arrive on the remote island, which is deserted and creepy, with only their professor and a few other assistants to guide them.
As they begin their scientific expedition, they discover a secret underground lab, which was used to conduct illegal biological testing on convicted criminals. The criminals were injected with a deadly virus and left to rot on the island, in an effort to cover up their illegal activities.
However, due to a combination of circumstances, the virus has mutated into something far more deadly, and the criminals have now risen from the dead as flesh-eating zombies. The students are forced to use their forensic skills to try to survive and find a way off the island, all while being stalked by the zombie criminals.
As the students struggle to stay alive, alliances are formed and secrets are revealed. Will any of them make it off the island alive and win the coveted trainee position with the FBI, or will they all become another statistic in the island's dark history?
